Delicate Sound of Thunder is the live double album of the A Momentary Lapse of Reason tour by British rock band Pink Floyd . The live recording was later also released on VHS .

The album was released on November 22, 1988 as double LP , double cassette and CD , and in 1992 as VHS. The track Us and Them was missing on the LP , while the tracks Signs of Life , On the Run and One Slip are featured on the VHS .
Although David Gilmour claimed in a radio interview in 1992 that Delicate Sound of Thunder did not contain any studio overdubs , Comfortably Numb was retrofitted with an acoustic guitar and some harmonies were replaced by studio retakes, according to a statement by studio technician Buford Jones . Richard Wright re-recorded his vocal part in Us and Them and Sam Brown replaced background singer Rachel Fury on Comfortably Numb .
As with most previous albums, Storm Thorgerson was responsible for the record cover .
Delicate Sound of Thunder reached number 11 on the Billboard 200 and has received three platinum records to date .
Others
Delicate Sound of Thunder was the first rock album to be played in space. A Russian cosmonaut took a tape recording on the Soyuz TM-7 in 1988 . He left the case of the cassette on the ground to save weight. The Pink Floyd band members were there when the rocket launched. Delicate Sound of Thunder was also the only Pink Floyd record that was officially released in the Soviet Union on the Melodija label .

The video was recorded on August 19, 1988 at the Nassau Coliseum in New York. The concert on June 21, 1988 in Versailles , France was also used in part.
