Location of Dettingen in Horb am Neckar

Dettingen is a district of the town of Horb am Neckar in Baden-Württemberg with around 1,600 inhabitants about 40 kilometers southwest of Tübingen in the Neckar Valley . It is located around 6.5 km southwest of Horb in the Neckar Valley on the debris cone of the Längenbach Valley.

The village lies at the confluence of the Dießen brook into the Neckar , which makes a characteristic curve here. The Priorberg , which belongs to the municipality, is a popular destination. From it there is a view of the entire village.

history

As a Prussian exclave, Dettingen belonged to the Sigmaringen administrative district ( Hohenzollernsche Lande ) since 1850 , to the Hohenzollern Oberamt Glatt until 1854 , to the Haigerloch Oberamt until 1925 and from then on to the Hechingen district . In 1971 Dettingen was incorporated into Horb. Until then, the train station was also called Dettingen (Hohenzollern) .

The district has an area of ​​10.35 km² .

Dettingen once had its own local nobility: the Lords of Dettingen, some of whom were nicknamed Lamp. Rudolfus de Tetingen is named as the oldest known ancestor in 1139. The last Herr von Dettingen, Reinhard, died on October 1, 1617 in Freiburg and was buried there in the Lichtenfels-Krozingen Chapel of the Freiburg Minster .

From 1881 to 1965, Dettingen was the only slate factory in what is now Baden-Württemberg.

On December 1, 1971, Dettingen was incorporated into the city of Horb am Neckar.
