The ESBG-Allstar-Game was an annual friendly game of the ESBG -Ligen Oberliga and 2. Bundesliga from 2006 to 2008 . In this game, selected players competed against each other in two teams. Here the Black-Red-Gold team met the United Nations team . Each league team posted one player and each second division team one to three players. Some of the actors could be selected by the fans in the specialist magazine Ice Hockey News . The rest was determined by sports journalists and experts.

The skills competition was also part of the event . Based on the example of the DEL All-Star Games or the NHL All-Star Games , the competition determined the hardest slap shot, the fastest skater or the best dribbling relay. The skills competition traditionally took place before the actual All-Star game.

The entire proceeds from the event went to the Ethiopia AidMenschen für Menschen ” run by Karlheinz Böhm , who played ice hockey himself in his childhood .

Held in 2006

On February 28, 2006, an ESBG Allstar Game of the 2nd Bundesliga and the Oberliga took place for the first time. The game was played in the ice stadium at the Pulverturm in Straubing .

While the Black-Red-Gold team was equipped with numerous ex-national players, such as Markus Janka and Brad Bergen , several professionals with many years of DEL experience, such as Robby Sandrock and Éric Houde , went for the United Nations team Ice. The coach of the German team was Erich Kühnhackl . In the United Nations team, on the other hand, the native Czech Jiří Kochta was on the gang.

The United Nation team won the first ESBG All-Star Game 6: 5. After the German team balanced the first period 2-2 and won the second, the foreign selection turned the game in the last period. The Canadian Alexandre Jacques , who was then under contract with SC Bietigheim-Bissingen , finally scored the winning goal for the United Nations team in the 56th minute. The around 5,800 ice rink on the Powder Tower was not even a third full with almost 1,300 spectators.

In 2009 and 2010

For the years 2009 and 2010, the ESBG Allstar Game was canceled by the ESBG due to scheduling reasons. For the 2009/10 season , the 14th second division expressed the wish to forego weekday games. As a result, no suitable date for such an event in 2010 could be found. The consequence was the renewed cancellation of the Allstar Games.
