The ERSC Amberg is an ice hockey club from Amberg in the Upper Palatinate . The club's greatest success was its promotion to the second-rate Hacker-Pschorr League in 1997 . The first team has played in the Bayern League since the 2020/21 season.
history
1953 to 1964
In the club ERSC Amberg , which was founded in 1950, an ice hockey department was founded in 1953, whose teams could play in the Amberg artificial ice stadium from November 1964.
1964 to 1989
The ERSC's first-time participation in the higher-class league operations with the "Bavarian championship" also achieved promotion to the fourth-class regional league for the 1982/83 season , in which the class was held and in the following season, promotion to the - third-class - upper league 1984 / 85. After the 1985/86 season , the team was withdrawn into the leagues of the Bavarian Ice Sports Association .
1989 to 1999
In the 1989/90 season, he was promoted again from the Bayern League to the Regionalliga Süd , in which the ERSC took part until the league division in the summer of 1994 as part of the introduction of the DEL . From the 1994/95 season , the team took part in the - now third-class - 2nd League South , from which the 1996/97 promotion to the second-rate Hacker-Pschorr League 1997/98 succeeded. With the reintroduction of the 2nd Bundesliga for the 1998/99 season, the ERSC remained in the - now third-class - 1st division .
1999
After the financial problems at the ERSC got bigger and bigger in spring / summer 1999 , the city of Amberg demanded the sale of the club's own ice rink for support. At the same time, the speed skating department founded in 1966 separated and the ice dancing department founded in 1977 by the ERSC became the new ESC Amberg club .
1999 to 2003
With the sale of the stadium, the ERSC was able to continue playing in the 1999/2000 season , after which, however, the sporting relegation to the South Regional League followed. In 2000, after renewed difficulties at the ERSC , the EC 2000 Amberg was founded, but it did not start playing. In the 2000/01 season the second team of the ERSC also took part in the game for the last time . After another season in the regional league, the ERSC team moved up in the summer of 2002 as the fourth division in the south, with the abolition of the regional league, in the third-class league .
2003 to 2006
During the Oberliga season 2002/03 the bankruptcy application had to be filed due to the financial problems at the ERSC and in the summer of 2003 the responsible district court approved that the bankruptcy procedure could be carried out in self- administration. The further participation of the senior team in the league was unsuccessful due to the attempt to outsource the team with transfer of the license to a Wild Lions ice hockey GbR . Due to the insolvency in self-administration , the ERSC could continue to participate in the game, but the team had to participate as a non-sporting relegation in the leagues of the Bavarian Ice Sports Association in the sixth-class Bavarian District League. The ERSC team was promoted to the fifth-class Bavarian regional league .
Since 2006
In the spring of 2006, the EC2000, founded in 2000, was brought back to life and in the 2006/07 season, in addition to the ERSC team that took part in the fifth-class Bavarian regional league, its own team took part in the sixth-class Bavarian regional league. In the early summer of 2007, the ERSC was just able to prevent the known termination of the cooperation agreement by the ESC through which the ERSC can use the stadium due to outstanding payments, but for the 2007/08 season, the ERSC was only able to manage one senior team - but no junior teams for Game operations are reported. Instead, the EC2000 reported teams.
The ERSC takes part in the 2007/08 season with the senior team in the fifth-class Bavarian regional league. The EC2000 , whose senior team won the group in the sixth-class Bavarian regional league, also has youth teams participating in the current 2007/08 season.
In summer 2008, the ERSC Amberg was able to end the insolvency proceedings under self-administration.
In 2008/09 the senior teams of both clubs played in the fifth-class Bavarian regional league. The youth teams taking part in the match belong to the EC 2000. The EC 2000 Amberg finished the season as third in the table, the ERSC Amberg as 6th of the relegation round. Thus, the EC 2000 Amberg achieved a significantly better placement than the local rival in its first season in the regional league. In a direct comparison, however, the ERSC was ahead (5: 5 and 5: 3).
In the following season (2009/10) the tide turned and the EC2000 scored points in a direct comparison (8: 4 and 6: 6). At the end of the season, however, the Ravens missed the goal of “relegation”, so there will be no further city derbies for the time being. During the season, a merger of the two clubs was also negotiated at the suggestion of the city and the hall operator. In the end, this did not materialize.
In the 2010/11 to 2013/14 seasons, the Wild Lions competed in the fifth-class Bavarian regional league and the EC2000 in the sixth-class Bavarian regional league. In the summer of 2014, both clubs agreed on a merger agreement, whereby the EC 2000 was merged into the ERSC, which received the license to play in the Bavarian State League from the BEV.
