Elizabeth Mitchell (* 27. March 1970 in Los Angeles , California as Elizabeth Joanna Robertson) is an American actress .
Life
When Mitchell was one year old, her parents moved from Los Angeles to Dallas , Texas. Her two sisters were born there. The parents were tax lawyers with their own company. In Dallas, Elizabeth Mitchell attended Booker T. Washington High School for Performing and Visual Arts . She studied acting at Stephens College in Columbia , Missouri , and at the British American Drama Academy in London . Mitchell graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree .
From 2004 to 2013 Mitchell was married to actor Chris Soldevilla. They have a son (* 2005) together.

Mitchell's first years of work were mainly characterized by stage appearances in Great Britain and the USA. She was a member of the Dallas Theater Center for six years and another year with the Encore Company , where she appeared in plays such as, Baby and Chicago . Other theater performances in which Mitchell was involved were, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum ( " Funny Thing Happened on the ancient Romans "), Measure for Measure ( Measure for Measure ) and As You Like It ( As You Like It ).
In 1993 Mitchell got her first role in a television production, in an episode of the series Dangerous Curves . She had her cinematic breakthrough in 1998 alongside Angelina Jolie in the feature film Gia . In this biographical film about the life of the bisexual top model Gia Carangi , Elizabeth Mitchell plays her lover Linda . While filming the fantasy thriller Frequency (2000) starring Dennis Quaid and James Caviezel , she suffered an accident and broke her nose. At the side of Tim Allen , she played Carol Newman in Santa Clause 2 (2002) and four years later Mrs. Claus in Santa Clause 3 . She also had recurring guest appearances in the US series hit Emergency Room and worked in Chaos City , Boston Legal and Dr. House with. Since the beginning of the third season (2006) she has been part of the role of Dr. Juliet Burke joins Lost's regular cast . From 2009 to 2011 she played the lead role in the ABC series V - The Visitors . In July 2012, she got a lead role in the NBC action series Revolution as Rachel Matheson .
