Tim Allen
Tim Allen (born June 13, 1953 in Denver , Colorado ; born Timothy Allen Dick ) is an American actor , producer , director and stand-up comedian , who was best known through his role as Tim Taylor in the television series Listen, whoever is hammering has achieved notoriety.
Life
Tim Allen first grew up in Colorado. After his father's accidental death in 1964 (caused by a drunk driver) and his mother's remarriage two years later, he and his family moved to Birmingham , a suburb of Detroit . He graduated from Western Michigan University with a degree in television production in 1974.
On October 2, 1978, Allen was arrested at Kalamazoo-Battle Creek International Airport for possession of more than 650 grams of cocaine . He was serving a 28-month prison term after being sentenced to seven years in prison and providing information about other drug dealers to authorities. Otherwise, he would have received a life sentence under Michigan’s 650 Lifer Act.
After his release, he tried his hand at the Detroit Comedy Castle as a stand-up comedian. His show, also televised, caught the interest of the Disney corporation; this was used to develop the sitcom Hör mal, wer da hammert ( Home Improvement ), which ran with great success in the USA from 1991 to 1999 and is also popular in German-speaking countries. Tim Allen embodies the self-proclaimed do- it- yourself king Tim Taylor, who is confronted with various self-inflicted disasters in his tool show and usually loses out to his wife Jill ( Patricia Richardson ) and his three sons at home . For the eighth and final season, Allen received $ 1.25 million per episode.
At the same time, he began a successful film career for the Disney group with the Christmas comedy Santa Clause - A Beautiful Christmas Present (1994), which had two sequels: Santa Clause 2 - An Even Nicer Present and Santa Clause 3 - A Frosty Present . Allen lent his voice to the character Buzz Lightyear in the Toy Story animated films. Successful comedies such as the Star Trek parody Galaxy Quest and From the Jungle, Into the Jungle followed ; but also a number of less successful films such as Joe Jedermann .
He's also very interested in cars. In his show Listen, Who's That Hammering , he even converted a 1933 Ford Roadster into a Hot Rod . This car is in his possession today. He also restored a 46 Ford Convertible. Even after his television series, Tim Allen was busy designing cars. Among other things, he designed the Cadillac DeVille DTS i. Allen is also active in racing. With the well-known car tuner Steve Saleen , he founded a racing company called RRR-Racing, for which he is active as a driver.
Tim Allen has eight siblings. He was married to Laura Deibel from 1984 to 2003 and has a daughter with her (born in 1990). In October 2006 he married Jane Hajduk, with whom he had been in a relationship since 2001. On March 28, 2009, the two parents had a daughter.
Since mid-2011, Tim Allen has been working on the production of the new sitcom Last Man Standing , which has been broadcast on ABC since autumn 2011, in addition to his ongoing stand-up tour . The story of the series is similar to that of his previous sitcom Listen, Who's That Hammering! . Allen plays husband and father Mike Baxter, who has to look after three daughters. Basically, the plot revolves around a man who has to cope in a world that is apparently increasingly ruled by women.
