Emanuele Buzzi (born October 27, 1994 in Innichen ) is an Italian ski racer . He is particularly successful in the Downhill and Super-G disciplines .

biography

At the age of 15, Buzzi began to compete in FIS races in December 2009 . In 2011 he was a participant in the European Youth Olympic Festival in Liberec , where he finished second in giant slalom behind Henrik Kristoffersen . On March 10, 2011 Buzzi made his debut in the European Cup in the Super-G of Sella Nevea . At the 2013 Winter Universiade in Passo San Pellegrino , he finished fourth in the Super-G. He achieved his best placement in four participations in the Junior World Championships in 2014 in Jasná with 6th place in the super combined . In the same year he won the Italian Super-G Junior Championship.

On December 19, 2014, Buzzi made his debut in the Alpine Ski World Cup , but with 50th place in the downhill run from Val Gardena , he was unable to place in the points. In the European Cup he achieved a podium for the first time on December 11, 2015 when he finished third in the Super-G in Sölden . On January 25, 2016, he celebrated his first European Cup victory in the Super-G on the Reiteralm . Twelve days later his second triumph followed in the downhill from Davos . He finished the 2015/16 European Cup season third in the overall ranking and winner of the Super-G ranking. Buzzi won his first World Cup points on February 6, 2016, finishing 25th in the downhill in Jeongseon . In the Super-G, too, with 26th place in Hinterstoder on February 27, 2016, he was among the top 30 for the first time.

His best result so far is sixth place on the Lauberhorn run on January 19, 2019 in Wengen . However, Buzzi fell seriously immediately after the finish line and was injured, trapped under a gang. During the medical examination at the hospital, a fracture of the head of the tibia was diagnosed.
