He achieved an average of 20.9 points, 3.3 rebounds , 2.4 assists and converted 33.7% of his three-point throws.

At the Clippers, Gordon quickly developed into a top performer who averaged 16.1 points in his first year and hit 39% of his three-point throws, which earned him a call to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team at the end of the season . In his third year he achieved an average of 22.3 points and an average of 4.4 assists, which was the breakthrough for him. However, he was increasingly struggling with injuries.

Before the start of the 2011/12 season, he was transferred from the Clippers to the New Orleans Hornets along with Chris Kaman and Al-Farouq Aminu . In return, the Clippers received multiple all-star Chris Paul . For the Hornets, Gordon could only play a few games due to an injury and the team spent the entire season in the basement of the Western Conference. His contract ended in 2012 and Gordon was offered a four-year maximum contract of $ 58 million from the Phoenix Suns , but the Hornets decided to match the offer. So Eric Gordon stays in New Orleans for another four years. The first two years Gordon could not complete more than 50 of the possible 160 games due to injuries.

With the 2013-14 season, he succeeded for the first time since Clippers times to complete more than 60 games in the season. Nevertheless, he was rarely able to build on his earlier achievements. In the 2014–15 season, he achieved an average of 13.4 points, his weakest career score to date. But the Pelicans qualified for the playoffs, which were also the first in Gordon's career. In the series against the Golden State Warriors , Gordon convinced as one of the few players and scored 18.5 points on average in four games. The Pelicans, however, were eliminated 4-0 against the Warriors without a win. In the 2015-16 season, Gordon struck again with an injury to his right finger, so that he could only complete 45 season games. However, the Pelicans missed the playoffs due to an injury-ridden season.

In the summer of 2016, Gordon signed with the Houston Rockets . At the Rockets, Gordon became an integral part of the offensive and completed an injury-free season after a long time. For the Rockets he came off the bench as the most important player and scored 16.2 points in 75 games. With the Rockets he reached the Conference semifinals in the NBA playoffs, where they lost to the San Antonio Spurs . Gordon received the NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award for Best Banker of the Season for his good performance at the end of the season .
