Ernie Hudson
Earnest Lee "Ernie" Hudson (born December 17, 1945 in Benton Harbor , Michigan ) is an American actor and voice actor .
Life
Hudson grew up in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Since he never met his father and his mother died of tuberculosis only two months after his birth , he grew up with his maternal grandmother. After serving briefly in the US Marine Corps , he moved to Detroit , where he played at Concept East , the oldest US theater for blacks. During his studies at Wayne State University, he deepened his acting skills and, after graduating with a Bachelor of Arts , was able to study at the Yale School of Drama on a scholarship .
Soon he was starring in the musical Daddy Goodness , where he met Gordon Parks, who gave him a first film role in Leadberry . Hudson then began studying for a doctorate at the University of Minnesota before returning to active acting.
Since 1976 he has also appeared as an actor and voice actor in film and television. His work includes more than 230 productions. In 1999 he received the Satellite Award for his role in Oz .
He was best known for his role as Winston Zeddemore in the films Ghostbusters (1984) and Ghostbusters II (1989). However, he lost this role during an audition for the animated series The Real Ghostbusters at Arsenio Hall . Even today he is approached on the street about his role and has been attending several conventions disguised as a Ghostbuster for years .
After Hudson prepared for three different roles as a police officer in the San Bernardino County Police Department , he became deputy sheriff there from 1989 and finally rose to the rank of sergeant in the Police Special Service Bureau in 1994 .
Hudson was married from 1963 until his divorce on 30 December 1982 his first wife, with whom he has two sons, one of the actor Ernie Hudson Jr. is. Since May 25, 1985, he is married to Linda Kingsberg, with whom he also has two sons.
