Ernst Pfister (born April 28, 1947 in Trossingen ) is a German politician of the FDP . From 2004 to 2011 he was Minister of Economics for the State of Baden-Württemberg .

Life and work

Pfister first attended the elementary school in Trossingen, but then moved onto high school and received 1967 in Villingen-Schwenningen , the High School . He then did his basic military service in the Bundeswehr until 1968 . He then began studying political science , German and sports science at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen and at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg , which he graduated with the first state examination in 1973 . The second state examination followed in 1974. From 1975 Pfister taught at the Villingen Hoptbühl-Gymnasium, where he was elected to the staff council and became chairman of the staff council.

Ernst Pfister is a Protestant, married and has two children. He lives in Trossingen. His hometown made him an honorary citizen in 2012. In 2014 Ernst Pfister was awarded the Order of Merit of the State of Baden-Württemberg .

Ernst Pfister joined the FDP / DVP in 1969 and was chairman of the Tuttlingen district association from 1972 to 1989 . In 1980 he was elected to the municipal council of the city of Trossingen , of which he was a member until 2004. From 1984 to 2004 Pfister was also Deputy Mayor of Trossingen. Between 1984 and 1996 Pfister was a member of the Tuttlingen district council . Since 1980 he was a member of the Baden-Württemberg state parliament and from 1996 to 2004 chairman of the FDP parliamentary group . Pfister was always elected to the state parliament through a second mandate from the constituency of Tuttlingen-Donaueschingen . In the election for the 14th Baden-Württemberg state parliament in 2006, he achieved an election result of 16.4% (FDP state result 10.8%). In July 2004, he succeeded Walter Döring , who had to resign in the course of the so-called “survey affair”, Baden-Württemberg Minister of Economics. After losing the party-internal fight for the top candidate on June 14, 2006, he handed over the role of Deputy Prime Minister , which he also assumed in 2004 , to Ulrich Goll . Pfister withdrew from politics in 2011.
