Extremis is an American short - documentary in their decisions on the intensive care unit of Highland Hospital in which doctors, patients and their families Oakland accompanied. The film was directed by Dan Krauss , who also acted as producer.

The film premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in April 2016 . Netflix was able to be won as a distributor , which also shows the film on its platform.

Awards

The Netflix documentary received an Oscar nomination for Best Documentary Short Film in 2017 , but did not receive an award. Dan Krauss was nominated in the same category in 2006 for his short film The Death of Kevin Carter: Casualty of the Bang Bang Club .

The film also received awards at the San Francisco International Film Festival (Best Bay Area Documentary Short) and the Tribeca Film Festival (Best Documentary Short), as well as a nomination for Best Short Film by the International Documentary Association .
