Falck A / S is a private company that operates on behalf of municipalities or companies, etc. a. takes on the tasks of fire and rescue services (in two thirds of the municipalities in Denmark ). The public limited company under Danish law has its registered office in Copenhagen and was listed on the Copenhagen Stock Exchange from 1995 to 2005.

history

"Falcks Redningskorps" was founded in 1906 by the Dane Sophus Falck (1864–1926), who himself helped extinguish the major fire at Christiansborg Palace in 1884 . In 1907 the company stationed the first ambulance in Scandinavia . A year later, Falck set up a clinic in Copenhagen. The expansion outside the city limits of Copenhagen took place in 1919 with a location in Odense .

In 1922 the company offered fire services for the first time. Air ambulance joined the company in 1947 and the company's main competitor in 1963. In 1988 the Falck family sold the company to Baltica-Versicherung .

Nowadays the company is active in two main areas of business: on the one hand in the area of ​​"emergency" (rescue of injured persons, fire fighting etc.), on the other hand in the area of ​​"assistance & security" (e.g. breakdown service, transport of valuables or medical care for senior citizens) . Falck has tens of thousands of employees in 31 countries worldwide.

Shareholders

In 2011 the financial investor Nordic Capital sold its shares in Falck. The new shareholders are now the Lundbeck Foundation, Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen's investment company and the management.

Falck Rettungsdienst GmbH , based in Hamburg, has been active in the German rescue service since 2010 . In 2011, Falck acquired the Kranken-Transport Herzig GmbH in Hamm . Since 2012, Falck has exclusively provided the rescue service in the entire Spree-Neisse district . On behalf of the Potsdam-Mittelmark district , Falck operates 8 rescue stations with more than 160 employees.

By successfully participating in numerous tenders, Falck Rettungsdienst GmbH was able to gain several locations within a short time. Falck is represented in the public rescue service in the following cities: Bonn , Cuxhaven , Flensburg , Hattingen , Hildesheim , Cologne , Leipzig , Sarstedt , Waldeck-Frankenberg , Werder and Ziesar .

GARD Gemeinnützige Ambulanz und Rettungsdienst GmbH with various subsidiaries such as promedica Rettungsdienst GmbH has been part of the Falck Group since August 2013 . This makes Falck by far the largest private rescue service company in Germany.

GARD was founded in Hamburg in 1983 and has been part of the Falck group of companies since 2013. In 1985 it received the approval to participate in the rescue service in Hamburg and has been the largest rescue service company in Germany since the merger with Promedica. The GARD Group employs 1,300 people at over 40 locations.

promedica Rescue Service GmbH

Promedica was founded in Eversmeer in 1992 and has been part of the Falck group of companies since 2013. 80 vehicles are occupied with 320 employees. Promedica is involved in the rescue service in the following cities: Flensburg , Geesthacht , Ratzeburg ; Werder , Lehnin , Groß Kreutz , Bollmannsruh ; Bad Belzig , Jeserig , Dahlen , Ziesar ; Waldeck , Herzhausen ; Westerholt , Esens , Schellerten , Sarstedt , Neuharlingersiel and Norderney .

ASG Ambulanz Leipzig GmbH

ASG Leipzig was taken over by Promedica in 2006. Five ambulances and one ambulance vehicle are operated in Leipzig . In the Bautzen district , 50 employees manned seven ambulances and one emergency doctor vehicle at two guards in Kamenz and one in Königsbrück . In the district of North Saxony , seven vehicles are provided by 46 employees in Oschatz , Wermsdorf and Schmannewitz .

Austria

In the tender for the rescue service in Tyrol in 2009, the company offered annual operating costs of 43 million euros. The bidding consortium of public aid organizations offered 27.5 million euros, was awarded the contract and started operations on July 1, 2011. As early as January 2012 it became apparent that further funds would be necessary for operation. The bidding consortium received emergency grants of 4.5 million euros. Auditors calculated additional costs of 6 million euros on behalf of the state. Falck has announced a lawsuit in the event of subsidization. In 2013, however, the Independent Administrative Senate dismissed a lawsuit by Falck on the grounds that it should have contested the tender immediately.

Spain

Since 2007 Spain has been the headquarters of International Fire Services , which controls Falck's fire services outside Denmark.
