Until 2014, the administrative offices were still referred to as sub-districts . The 2015 territorial reform did not have any noticeable changes to Fatumean's external borders. The Office of Administration is divided into three Sucos : Belulic Leten ( Beluluik Leten , Betulik Leten , literally: "Upper-Belulik" ), Fatumea ( Fatumean ) and Nanu . Until 2003, Fatumean was divided into the four sucos Alasleten (corresponds to today's Fatumea), Belulik Kraik ( "lower Belulik" , the north of today's Belulik Leten), Belulik Leten (the western and southern part of Nanu) and Nano Dakolo ( the northeastern part of today's Nanus).

history

Timor’s pre-colonial history is only known orally, as the peoples of the island did not use any script. Originally, five kingdoms ruled the core region of the municipality: Camenaça ( Kamenasa ), Suai, Maucatar, Taroman and Fohorem. Fohorem dominated the other empires through diplomacy, marriage policies and campaigns of conquest against other empires in the region. After the Liurai of Fohorem had secured sovereignty over the region, he gave each of his five daughters their own kingdom as a fief. In return, they paid tribute in the form of agricultural and forestry products. Another source states that the three kingdoms Fatumean, Lookeu and Dakolo initially joined together to form the Uma Tolu ( "Three Houses" ) coalition . Only after a war against the Portuguese did the kingdoms of Sisi and Maudemi join in and Koba Lima was created . By corruption, "Koba" later became "Cova". Through the colonial demarcation, with the Treaty of Lisbon , between the Netherlands and Portugal, Sisi, Maudemi and half of Lookeus came to what is now Indonesian West Timor, while the rest of Lookeu, Fatumean and Dakolo are now part of the Cova Lima municipality, which belongs to East Timor . Ties across the border still exist today.

In March 1895 the Portuguese governor José Celestino da Silva launched an offensive against Fatumean and other empires. During the War of Manufahi (1894-1896) warriors from Fatumean temporarily occupied the fort of Batugade , when its garrison fought elsewhere. In September 1895, the ruler of Fatumean signed a written treaty with Portugal on his vassal status.

To avoid the attacks by the Indonesian army in 1976, most of the residents of the Fohorem, Fatululic , Fatumean and Tilomar administrative offices fled to Mount Taroman . Others fled to the villages of Dato Tolu , Fatuloro , Taroman and Lactos .
