Fermín Trueba

Fermín Trueba Pérez (born August 26, 1914 in Torrelavega , † May 1, 2007 in Madrid ) was a Spanish cyclist .

Fermín Trueba, a mountain specialist, was one of the most successful Spanish cyclists of the 1930s and 1940s. In 1934 he celebrated his first victory and finished second in two other Spanish races. In 1935 he won the Subida a Arantzazu . In 1938 he was Spanish road racing champion and four times - in 1940, 1941, 1942 and 1944 - Spanish mountain champion. In 1941 he won the Circuito del Norte , in 1942, 1945 and 1946 the Subida al Naranco , in 1943 the Circuito Castilla-Leon-Asturias and numerous other Spanish cycling races.

Trueba started four times at the Vuelta a España . In 1935 he drove with two of his brothers on the first tour of the tour , which he had to end after a fall. In 1936 he won the ninth stage, in 1941 three stages and the mountain classification ; when he last started in 1942 he gave up prematurely. In 1935 he was supposed to start in the Tour de France , but had to cancel due to an illness. His start the following year failed because of his military service, later because of the Spanish Civil War and World War II . In 1947 he ended his cycling career.

Fermín Trueba, called "Mini", was the sixth of a total of eight brothers; his brothers Vicente , José and Manuel were also racing cyclists.
