overview

Ferrari FXX (former owner: Michael Schumacher )

The Ferrari FXX was developed with the help of the then Ferrari Formula 1 drivers Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello . The special thing about the model, however, is that amateur test drivers were also significantly involved in the development. The tire manufacturer Bridgestone developed 19-inch slicks especially for this car . The generously dimensioned brake system with ceramic brake discs had a special cooling system. The FXX was a single-seater, but Ferrari built in a passenger seat on request.

In contrast to the base vehicle (Ferrari Enzo), the FXX was not approved for use on public roads. It was produced in a limited edition of 30 copies, cost 1.5 million euros and was only offered to selected customers. The FXX prototype was converted into carbon fiber for Jean Todt . The 30th and officially last copy was initially owned by Michael Schumacher , but was sold in 2013 for 2.4 million euros. Schumacher had received one of only two black-painted FXXs, but his vehicle did not have a white vertical stripe. There was also a yellow, a blue, a white, a silver-blue and a silver FXX; all other vehicles wore the Italian standard racing color Rosso Corsa , with one car covered with orange-red and another car with white foil.

Every owner of a Ferrari FXX was free to take part in a racing or test series, the "FXX Program". The events took place in 2006 in Homestead , Fuji , Mont-Tremblant , Spa-Francorchamps , at the Nürburgring and in Monza . These events gave owners the opportunity to move their Ferrari FXX around the circuit.

FXX evolution

Ferrari FXX Evolution

In October 2007 Ferrari presented a package with technical improvements, the Evolution Package . Among other things, it contained an engine update with an increase in output to 632 kW (860 hp), and the maximum speed was increased by 1000 rpm. A new transmission with a shift time of 60 instead of 80 ms was also included.

The disengageable traction control (with nine programs) was adapted to the new speed level, there were also new, lower-wear brakes and a more tire-friendly chassis. The aerodynamics have been revised: there were new spoilers and a modified diffuser . In addition, the paintwork on the rear fenders was changed, and there were no longer any median strips. According to a press release from Ferrari, the technical improvements have reduced the lap time on the home track in Fiorano from 1 min. 18 sec. To 1 min. 16 sec.
