The airfield Wyk was founded in 1926, making it one of the oldest places of Schleswig-Holstein . As early as the early 1930s, today's Lufthansa operated scheduled flights from Berlin, Kiel and Hamburg to Wyk auf Föhr . The airfield has the ICAO EDXY and has two crossed runways (lane 02/20: grass covering, 660 meters, lane 09/27: grass covering, 605 meters length).

The space is also used for rescue flights to and from Wyk Hospital and is intended for care in the event of major incidents.

The airport-based company Westküstenflug offers sightseeing and taxi flights with Cessna aircraft. There is also a small restaurant on the square.
