Football League First Division 1908/09

The Football League First Division 1909/10 was the 22nd season of the highest English football league . It began on September 1, 1909 and ended on April 30, 1910.

Aston Villa won the sixth English championship in club history, five points ahead of Liverpool FC . From the two climbers Bolton Wanderers and Tottenham Hotspur only the "Spurs" could receive the class. Together with the Bolton Wanderers, Chelsea FC had to move into the Second Division . These two clubs should be replaced in the following season by the two second division promoted Manchester City and Oldham Athletic .

A total of 501 players were used, with Aston Villa and Notts County with 18 the fewest and Chelsea with 34 the most players in league games. 157 newcomers faced 129 footballers who last came into play in the 1909/10 season. 16 players were able to play all 38 league games of their club.

    The Aston Villa championship team

The following table lists all players who played for Aston Villa in a league game during the 1909/10 season. It must be noted that in English football a minimum number of games is usually required in order to receive the official championship medal. Since there was uncertainty about the specific regulation before the introduction of the Premier League, all players who presumably did not receive a championship medal due to their low contribution were marked with an asterisk (*). The number of missions and the goals scored are given in brackets.
