Frédéric Bézian (born May 25, 1960 in Revel (Haute-Garonne) ) is a French comic artist .

Life

After various fanzine publications in his youth, he studied from 1978 to 1981 at the Institut Saint-Luc art school in Brussels with Claude Renard and François Schuiten . In 1982 he published the volume L'Étrange Nuit de Monsieur Korb (German: You must never forget dreams ) in the Atomium 58 series of the Magic Strip publishing house, as well as the album Ginette, Martine, Josianne ... on Futuropolis. As a result, Bézian created several dark comic short stories in the spirit of Edgar Allan Poe , Oscar Wilde and Franz Kafka . Thematically related is also the award-winning trilogy Adam Sarlech , La Chambre Nuptiale and Le Testament sous la Neige (German: The Curse of Adam Sarlech , The Hidden bridal chamber and The Testament under the snow ), which between 1989 and 1993 by Les Humanoïdes Associés was published .

In the 1990s, Bézian worked for various publishing houses. He was eventually hired by the animated film production company Les Armateurs as artistic director for the production of the animated TV series Belphégor (2000). Between 2001 and 2003 he contributed work to various comic anthologies before celebrating his comeback in the field of comic literature in 2004 with Ne touchez à rien (based on a scenario by Noël Simsolo). Since then, Bézian has regularly published new works, including a volume for the Donjon Monstres series in 2006 .
