Frank Santillo

Frank Santillo (born October 8, 1912 in New Mexico , † June 30, 1978 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American film editor who won an Oscar for best editing at the 1967 Academy Awards .

Life

Santillo began his career as an editor in the Hollywood film industry in 1954 with the short film Strauss Fantasy and worked on the editing of more than twenty films and television series until 1973 , where he worked in particular on some westerns by Burt Kennedy and Sam Peckinpah .

In 1967 he won an Oscar for best editing together with Fredric Steinkamp , Henry Berman and Stu Linder , namely for Grand Prix (1966) by John Frankenheimer with James Garner , Eva Marie Saint and Yves Montand . At the same time, they were jointly nominated for the Eddie , the American Cinema Editors' award for the best cut in a motion picture.
