from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Fritz Tillmann (born November 1, 1874 in Honnef , † March 24, 1953 in Honnef-Rhöndorf ) was a German Catholic theologian .

Life

Fritz Tillmann was ordained a priest in 1898 and was then student chaplain in Bonn . In 1908 he completed his habilitation and taught from 1913 to 1939 as a professor of Catholic moral theology ; his habilitation was actually for the New Testament. Tillmann's professional approach remained true to his biblical beginnings in that he understood moral theology as the doctrine of following Christ ; the connection of morality to the Bible was indispensable.

From 1919 to 1921 he was rector of the University of Bonn . In October 1924 he founded the first German student house with a cafeteria , bureau , reading and social rooms in Bonn .

From 1928 he was a member of the board of the German Student Union . He was also instrumental in founding the University Association, which he chaired from 1929 to 1933. In 1935 he published the multi-volume manual of the Catholic moral doctrine . "With his writings Tillmann made a significant contribution to reforming the church's moral teaching."

Tillmann was a member of the Center Party and the KDB Winfridia zu Bonn in the RKDB .

Tillmann lived in Honnef for the last decades of his life. He was buried in the Rhöndorfer forest cemetery .
