Furi cable car station
Furi

The Furi is located 3 km south of Zermatt at an altitude of 1867  m above sea level. M. in the Valais Alps . It is a relatively flat terrace between the Gornera and the Zmuttbach . On its north side, it sinks steadily to the village of Zermatt ( 1619  m ). The terrain is steeper to the west and east, dropping to 1670  m and 1650  m respectively . On the south side the ridge rises quite steeply.

Furi has been connected to Zermatt by a cable car since the 1950s . In the meantime a gondola lift has also been built. From Furi you can continue with another cable car (to Trockener Steg ) and two gondola lifts (to Riffelberg and Schwarzsee ). The Furi-Furgg cable car was dismantled in 2003.

Furi is the largest hub in the entire Zermatt ski area . The connection with Trockener Steg enables a quick transfer (15 minutes from Zermatt) to the glacier ski area. The connection to Schwarzsee is the approach to the Matterhorn ascent. And the new gondola lift to Riffelberg connects the two sub-areas of Klein Matterhorn and Gornergrat .

South of Furi you can cross the Gornera on the Furi suspension bridge and get to the Dossen Glacier Garden .
