Trockener Steg , also called Trockner Steg , is a mountain ridge in the Valais Alps . The ridge is at 2900 to 3000  m . Trockener Steg is located a few kilometers from Zermatt and 3 km from the Furggsattel . The glacier tongue of the Theodul glacier is about one kilometer from the Trockener Steg mountain station. On the south side, Trockener Steg is more than 1000 m above the Gorner Glacier, which is further north . The slopes there are quite steep. On the eastern side, the plateau rises only slightly until, after a horizontal length of 2 km, it finally reaches a height of 3300 meters. Then the pyramid of the Klein Matterhorn rises abruptly to a height of 3885  m . The rock faces in this area are mostly tangled and very steep. On the southern side, the Theodul Glacier rises slightly until the terrain drops again to 3400  m ( Plateau Rosa ), where the border between Italy and Switzerland is located.

On the western side, the plateau drops off moderately steeply.
