Georg Kink (born August 26, 1949 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen ) is a former German ice hockey player and coach. In the course of his career he was active in the Bundesliga for the Augsburger EV , Düsseldorfer EG and Kölner EC, among others . With the German national team, he took part in two world championships and the 1972 Winter Olympics. As a coach, he led his home club, SC Riessersee , from the major league to the German ice hockey league .

Career

As a player

Georg Kink grew up in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and went through all youth teams at SC Riessersee . At the end of the 1960s, Kink played for the ice hockey department of FC Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga before it was sold to the Augsburg EV in 1969 . Kink played for AEV until 1973 and then moved to Düsseldorfer EG for professional reasons . He played there for five years and became German champions with DEG in the 1974/75 season . From 1978 to 1980 he worked for DEG's Rhenish rival, the Cologne EC , for two years and celebrated his second championship with the KEC in 1979 . In the 1980/81 season he played again in his Bavarian homeland for EHC 70 Munich , with whom he was relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga . The following two years he was active in the second highest division for Duisburger SC . He then played for a year for Krefelder EV before ending his active career for two years at SC Solingen - also in the 2nd Bundesliga.

After ending his career as a player in 1986, he immediately took over the coaching position at SC Solingen . He trained the second division side for two years before he was the main person behind the gang for one season each at EC Ratingen and then at EHC Essen-West . With the Essenes he reached the promotion relegation to the 1st Bundesliga in 1989/90, in which he missed promotion with the team in seventh place. In the summer of 1990 he returned to the Bundesliga when he signed a contract with Bundesliga club PEV Weißwasser .

Between 1993 and 1996 he was in charge of his home club, SC Riessersee, in the Oberliga, 1st division and in the 1995/96 season in the German Ice Hockey League, founded in 2004, as head coach.

From 2000 to 2004 he trained the league club EC Peiting , with whom he regularly participated in the promotion round, but did not achieve promotion. Then Kink was in the season 2004/05 coach of the EHC Munich in the league, but was dismissed there after the preliminary round before the team finished the promotion round as first place.

Between 2010 and 2018, Kink was the head coach of the U18 juniors at SC Riessersee, with whom he took part in the DNL , Jugend-Bundesliga and DNL2 respectively.

family

His two sons Marcus and George also play (semi-) professionally ice hockey.
