Georg Maas (director)

Georg Maas (born September 18, 1960 in Aachen ) is a German freelance screenwriter and director .

Life

Georg Maas graduated from high school in 1979 and then did an apprenticeship as a carpenter , which he completed in 1982 with a journeyman's certificate. He then worked with unemployed young people until 1984. From 1984 to 1991 he studied at the German Film and Television Academy Berlin (dffb). In 1994 he took the directing master class at the European Film Academy (EFA) with István Szabó and Tilda Swinton and with Krzysztof Kieślowski . In 1997 he co-founded the actor-director-writer laboratory (SRAL) in Berlin . In 2000 he completed the directing masterclass of the EFA with Wojciech Marczewski , in 2003 the story development program Step by Step of the Master School Scriptwriting and in 2006 the EKRAN Masterclass at the Andrzej Wajda Master School of Film Directing in Warsaw .

He makes feature films and documentaries , most of which are based on his own scripts. He also creates video clips , video installations and industrial films and is also active in the areas of dramaturgy and editing .

Georg Maas lives in Berlin.
