Gerda van der Kade-Koudijs
Gerda Johanna Marie van der Kade-Koudijs (born October 29, 1923 in Rotterdam , † March 19, 2015 in Almelo ) was a Dutch athlete .
At the first European championships after the end of the war, which took place in Oslo in 1946 , van der Kade-Koudijs was European champion in the long jump . With the Dutch 4 x 100 meter relay , she won her second European title.
She celebrated her greatest sporting success at the 1948 Olympic Games in London . Together with her teammates Xenia Stad-de Jong , Nettie Witziers-Timmer and Fanny Blankers-Koen , she became Olympic champion in the 4 x 100 meter relay in a close race ahead of Australia and Canada. Van der Kade-Koudijs also competed in the long jump and missed the bronze medal there by half a centimeter. In the race over the 80 meter hurdles she was eliminated in the semifinals.
