Silke Möller (born Gladisch ; born June 20, 1964 in Stralsund ) is a former German athlete and Olympic medalist who was one of the world's best sprinters in the 1980s, starting for the GDR . Her first major success was only when the broken Olympics 2012 world record with the 4 x 100-meter relay of the GDR: At the World Cup in Canberra on 6 October 1985, she went along with Sabine Rieger , Marlies Goehr and Ingrid Auerswald a Time of 41.37 s.

Life

During her sports career, she was overshadowed by Marlies Göhr , Marita Koch and Heike Drechsler for many years . Only in 1987, still under her birth name Gladisch, did she dominate: At the 1987 World Championships , she won two titles - in the 100-meter run, in the 200-meter run and second place with the 4 x 100 meter Season. For this she was voted GDR Sportswoman of the Year . At the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul , she won the silver medal with the GDR's 4 x 100 meter relay (as a married Silke Möller).

In 1992 she came under suspicion of doping with Katrin Krabbe and Grit Breuer and was suspended by the DLV because the three gave identical urine samples at the training camp in South Africa. The arbitration tribunal of the International Athletics Federation (IAAF) acquitted her for formal reasons. Thereupon - shortly before the Olympic Games - she gave up competitive sport and studied history in Rostock. Möller works as a teacher for sports, history and social studies at the Reutershagen high school . She has a daughter.

Silke Möller started for SC Empor Rostock and trained with Wolfgang Meier . In her active days she was 1.63 m tall and weighed 57 kg.

Silke Möller was awarded the Bronze Patriotic Order of Merit in 1986 and silver in 1984 and 1988.

doping

In 1991, anti-doping opponents Brigitte Berendonk and Werner Franke were able to secure several dissertations and post-doctoral theses by former GDR doping researchers at the Bad Saarow Military Medical Academy . Based on the work, the state-organized doping practice of many well-known GDR competitive athletes, including Silke Möller, was reconstructed. According to the information, Silke Möller was given high doses of Oral-Turinabol from 1981 to 1984 .
