Gerrit Große (born April 30, 1954 in Leipzig ) is a German politician ( Die Linke ). She was a member of the Brandenburg State Parliament between 2001 and 2019 and Vice- President of the State Parliament from December 2009 to October 2014.

Life

From 1972 to 1976 she studied German and musicology at the Martin Luther University in Halle-Wittenberg and then worked as a teacher for music and German, and after attending the special women's class at the SED district party school from 1987 to 1988 , she was also headmistress from 1988 . From 1991 to 2000 she worked as a teacher again.

Gerrit Große is divorced and has two children.

politics

Gerrit Große became a member of the SED in 1976 . From 1990 to 2010 she was a member of the PDS parliamentary group (from 2007 parliamentary group Die Linke) in the district council of Oranienburg and Oberhavel and there from 1994 to 2001 also parliamentary group chairman and then deputy parliamentary group chairwoman. She resigned her district council mandate in protest, as an NPD motion, contrary to the agreement not to vote for motions from this party, was approved by the CDU, FDP and parts of the Green / Free Voters faction. The request on July 7, 2010 was about ending the session an hour earlier because of the World Cup soccer game Germany-Spain . From 2007 to 2013 she was the district chairwoman of the district association DIE LINKE Oberhavel.

On January 3, 2001, she succeeded the deceased Michael Schumann in the Brandenburg state parliament. In the state elections in 2004 and 2009 , she was directly elected to the state parliament in the Oberhavel III state electoral district. In the 2014 state elections , she only gained her mandate through the state list. She was the education policy spokesperson and from 2005 to 2009 and 2013 to 2015 also deputy chairwoman of her group. Since 2001 she was a member of the Committee for Education, Youth and Sport, from 2004 to 2009 also its deputy chairperson and from 2014 its chairperson. Since 2009 she has also been a member of the Committee on Science, Research and Culture.

From November 2005 to December 2009 Große was a member of the Presidium and from December 2009 to October 2014 Vice President of the Brandenburg State Parliament.

Social Commitment

Gerrit Große is a member of the Presidium of the Berlin-Brandenburg State Association of the Humanist Association of Germany . Since 2017 she has also been chairwoman of the Association of Music and Art Schools Brandenburg eV and since 2019 an assessor in the Presidium of the Brandenburg State Music Council
