Westernbach

The source of the Westernbach is located in the community-free area of the Spessart estate between the villages of Bellings , Weiperz and Breunings , in the Ratzerod nature reserve near Neuengronau (NSG no. 5723-301), where it rises as a pea-born . In the further course it crosses the nature reserve Westerngrund von Neuengronau and Breunings (NSG-Nr. 5723-303), where several beaver reservoirs have formed since the European beaver settled in the 1980s. At about 7 km, the Westernbach is the more water-rich and longer source brook and is regarded as the upper reaches of the Gronau.

Lederhosebach

The approximately 5 km long Lederhosebach arises from the confluence of the Eisbach and Gottesgraben southeast of Breunings below the Steinfirst . It runs parallel to Landesstraße 3371 and flows through Neuengronau. To the southwest of the village, it joins the Westernbach to Gronau.

course

After the confluence of the source brooks, the Gronau flows to Altengronau . There it crosses under Landesstraße 2304, the Flieden – Gemünden railway and the former route of the Jossa – Wildflecken railway and joins the Sinn from the right below the former Gerhäuser marble works .

Tributaries

Tributaries of the Westernbach are:

  • Erbsenborn (left), 0.8 km
  • Willingsbach (left), 2.2 km
  • Wolfsgraben (left), 1.8 km
  • Geisegraben (left), 1.4 km
