history

In 1830 there were four houses, five families, 33 souls in the court , of which 24 were Protestants and nine Catholics. In 1895 Hünkelshäuptchen had three houses with 21 residents. The organ maker Georg Limpert lived at the Hünkelshäuptchen from 1775 to 1851 , who presumably made rotary and fair organs. Then the organ builders Johann and Nikolaus Richter and Peter Limpert are named as organ builders in Hükelshäuptchen.

The Eubeberg-Hünkelshäuptchen nature reserve , with its mixed forest as well as grassland, wetlands and poor grassland, is a cultural landscape worth preserving in the maintenance zone B of the Rhön biosphere reserve.
