Hans Frank (Admiral)

Hans Frank (born June 22, 1939 in Delmenhorst ; † March 18, 2019 in Meckenheim) was a German naval officer ( Vice Admiral ) of the German Navy and a military writer. From 1994–1999 he was Deputy Inspector General of the Bundeswehr and Inspector of the Central Military Services and officer in charge of reservist matters in the Bundeswehr. After his service, he was President of the Federal Academy for Security Policy (1999–2004) and Chairman of the German Society for Defense Technology (2004–2009).

Career

Promotions

After graduating from high school in 1961, Hans Frank joined the German Navy as an officer candidate for Crew IV / 61 . After training at the Naval Academy Mürwik (MSM), he was the second officer of the watch on the speed boat crane . In 1966/67 he was the lecture hall director at the Naval NCO School (MUS) in Plön. In 1967/68 he was a cadet officer on the training ship Danube . In 1969 he was 1st officer on watch on the consecration speedboat . From 1969 to 1971 he was in command of the Elster speedboat in the 5th Schnellbootgeschwader. In 1971/72 the B course followed in Bremerhaven. From 1972 to 1974 he was an operations officer on the Z 2.

After the 16th admiralty staff training at the command academy of the Bundeswehr (FüAkBw) from 1974 to 1976 he was S3 on the 7th Schnellbootgeschwader in Kiel. From 1978 to 1981 he was a consultant in the command staff of the armed forces (Fü S III 5). From 1981 to 1983 Frank was commander of the 2nd Schnellbootgeschwader in Olpenitz. From 1989 to 1992 he was deputy head of department in the command staff of Armed Forces III (military policy, leadership) in Bonn. In 1992 he became Chief of Staff in the Armed Forces Staff . In 1994 he was appointed Deputy Inspector General of the Bundeswehr in Bonn; In 1994/95 he was entrusted with the maintenance of business. At the same time he was the inspector of the Central Military Services (ZMilDBw) and officer in charge of reservist matters for the Bundeswehr.

Honorary positions

After retiring from active service in 1999, Frank became President of the Federal Academy for Security Policy (BAKS) in Bonn / Berlin. From 2004 to 2009 he was chairman of the German Society for Defense Technology (DWT) in Bonn.
