Hansjörg Göritz

Hansjörg Göritz (born June 5, 1959 in Hanover ) is a German-American architect , designer , university professor and author . In 1996 he was awarded the Baukunst Prize for the Berlin Art Prize of the Berlin Academy of the Arts for his early work . In 2012 he was recognized as an Affiliated Fellow of the American Academy in Rome .

Life

Hansjörg Göritz was born in 1959 as the son of a bricklayer and grew up with a craft in rural areas in Lower Saxony . After graduating from high school, he completed an apprenticeship as a bricklayer. He studied architecture at the Hildesheim / Holzminden University of Applied Sciences in Hildesheim and at the London Architectural Association School of Architecture . After traveling in the Mediterranean, to Cistercian monasteries, the landscape gardens of England and Scandinavia, he worked in Hanover from 1986 and in Berlin from 2007.

He designed the State Forum and State Parliament of the Principality of Liechtenstein , the first in the country's history. The Hannover-Nordstadt station was with cobalt blue glass stone of a Florentine glassworks and blue pigmented concrete for the Expo 2000 opened Hanover S-Bahn built.

Hansjörg Göritz taught architecture as a guest at the Hildesheim University of Applied Science and Art 1995–1997, as a professor at the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences from 1999–2001 and has been a professor at the University of Tennessee in the College of Architecture and Design since 2007 . In addition to international lecturing, he was a guest critic at prestigious universities such as the Accademia di Architettura di Mendrisio and Yale, Visiting Adjunct Faculty at Auburn University, and taught at the 2018 UT Finland Architecture Summer Institute at Aalto University Helsinki. In 1993 Göritz was appointed to the Association of German Architects (BDA) and in 2000 to the German Werkbund (DWB), and since 2007 he has been an International Associate at the American Institute of Architects (AIA).
