Heiterblick is a district of Leipzig , which is located in the north-eastern part of the city and borders the districts of Paunsdorf and Abtnaundorf .

history

View of the Heiterblick Vorwerk after the Battle of the Nations, 1815

The use of the area began around 1540, when the gentlemen of the nearby manor Abtnaundorf on the road to diving the Vorwerk could build Heiterer view. The Vorwerk was rebuilt between 1796 and 1800 and henceforth - in contrast to the buildings of the old Abtnaundorf estate - referred to as the "New House". After the outworks burned down during the battles of the Battle of the Nations , it was rebuilt and developed into a popular excursion destination, especially for Leipzig artists.

In 1899 the educational center Heiterer Blick (also Fregestift, named after the lawyer and university professor Woldemar Frege ) was opened on the grounds of the Vorwerk , which was subordinate to the city and existed until 1993. In 1908 the Heiterblick stop (since 1931: Leipzig-Heiterblick) was opened on the Leipzig – Eilenburg railway line . In 1927, Heiterblick received a tram connection when line 23 to Taucha was opened.

Vorwerk Heiterer Blick (1891)

Heiterblick belonged administratively to the municipality of Abtnaundorf and was incorporated into Leipzig on April 1, 1930 together with it.

From 1935, when the Wehrmacht was rearming, the Heiterblick barracks of the Luftwaffe (Flak) were built. It was used by the Soviet Army after 1945 until it was withdrawn in the early 1990s . The remains were demolished in 2005.

While the original character of the district, which was mainly characterized by fields and nature, was largely preserved until the early 1990s, today the commercial areas along Torgauer Straße determine the image of Heiterblick.

As part of the municipal reorganization of Leipzig, a district of Heiterblick was formed in 1992 (within the eastern district), which, in addition to the historic district, also includes the Kiebitzmark residential area built after 1990, which structurally belongs to Paunsdorf .

Industry

In 1915 a branch of the Automobil- und Aviatik AG was established , in which military aircraft were manufactured from the following year. After the end of the First World War , production was initially switched to commercial aircraft until this became inadmissible by the provisions of the Versailles Treaty . J. Mehlich AG from Berlin then produced individual parts for the automobile and bicycle industries in the plant. On January 1, 1926, the plant was shut down and transferred to the city of Leipzig. Then the main workshops for the trams of the Leipziger Verkehrsbetriebe were housed here.

Erla-Maschinenwerk GmbH was founded in Leipzig-Heiterblick in 1934 to build and repair aircraft, and it also had operations in other parts of the city. The forerunner of Erla-Maschinenwerk GmbH was the "Eisen- und Flugzeugwerk Erla GmbH" founded in 1933 in Erla in the Ore Mountains. In terms of the number of units built, Erla was, alongside Messerschmitt GmbH in Regensburg and Wiener Neustädter Flugzeugwerke, the largest producer of the German standard fighter aircraft Messerschmitt Bf 109 . From 1943 to April 1945 there were satellite camps of the Buchenwald concentration camp at the Erla machine works.
