Herbert Krug (born June 21, 1937 in Mainz , † November 2, 2010 in Hochheim am Main ) was a dressage rider who competed for the Federal Republic of Germany.

Career

Krug worked as a winemaker near Hochheim am Main. First, he competed in all three Olympic equestrian disciplines. He had his first major international success in 1963 when he finished eighth in the individual standings at the European Championship for rural eventing riders . As a result, he concentrated more on dressage and from the 1970s rode in advanced level dressage tests . In 1980 he acquired in Denmark the then eight year old gelding Muscadeur and trained it from jumping to dressage horse around. He had his first international championship start as a dressage rider in 1983 at the European Championships in Aachen , followed a year later with Muscadeur at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles . In addition to the victory with the team, he reached fifth place in the individual ranking.

Private

In 2006 he was attacked by a nervous disease that caused serious damage to nerve cells. In November 2010 he died in a hospice.
