Hildebrand Diehl

Hildebrand Diehl (born July 2, 1939 in Wiesbaden ) is a former German politician ( CDU ).

Lord Mayor

In the state elections in Hesse in 1983 , he ran in what was then the Wiesbaden III constituency , but was defeated by the SPD candidate Herbert Schneider . In the direct mayor elections in 1997, Hildebrand Diehl was surprised to gain a narrow majority in the runoff election against his opponent Rolf Praml from the SPD , against whom he was still defeated in the first ballot. From 1989 to 1997 he was mayor of Wiesbaden.

In the following elections in 2003 Diehl received 57.7% of the votes in the first ballot and was thus confirmed in office.

Due to reaching the age limit, Diehl left office on July 2, 2007 before the end of the electoral term. On March 11, 2007, the CDU candidate Helmut Müller was elected as his successor in the first ballot.

Honors

Hildebrand Diehl has been an honorary citizen of Görlitz since 2000 . He is also the city ​​elder in Wiesbaden.
