Hostato

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

According to legend, Hostato was the first bailiff of Höchst am Main . Knight Roland's squire, actually Hruotland , is the only one to have survived the battle of Roncesvalles and to have brought news of the defeat to the king. He is said to have knighted him immediately and appointed Vogt of Höchst - the place where Charlemagne was holding camp.

The hostatosage was handed down in a poem by the poet Calaminus (1547–1595). The Höchst city pastor Emil Siering († 1899), who published a first history of the city of Höchst and the Justinuskirche in 1890 , adopted Calaminus' poem in his work.

Hostato Street and the Hostato School in Höchst, as well as a portrait in the Bolongaro Palace, are reminiscent of Hostato . The brand name Hostalen for a polyolefin from LyondellBasell also has Hostato as part of the name.
