Calculation of the rating
The rating a team has is based on the performance of all ODI games it has played in the last three to four years. For the games of the last 12 to 24 months since last May, the full points are counted, for the 24 months before the acquired points count to 50%. In May, the points that were earned between three and four years ago will be redeemed. The following figure shows an example for two periods.
After each game, the scoring table is updated based on the rating the two teams had before the game and the game result. The first step is to determine the rating for the respective game. If the scores of the two teams involved are less than 40 points apart, the following distribution of points applies:
Game result | Points earned |
---|---|
Profit | Opponent rating +50 |
draw | Opposing rating |
loss | Opponent rating - 50 |
If the scores of the two teams are more than 40 points apart before the game:
Match result | Points earned |
---|---|
Stronger team wins | Own rating + 10 |
Weaker team loses | Own rating - 10 |
Stronger team draws | Own rating - 40 |
Weaker team draws | Own rating + 40 |
Stronger team loses | Own rating - 90 |
Weaker team wins | Own rating + 90 |
- The rating of a team is the number of points earned divided by the number of games played.
