Ingolf Gorges
Ingolf "Ingo" Gorges (born April 8, 1940 in Magdeburg ; † May 24, 2008 in Berlin ) was a German actor . He was particularly well known in the GDR , which he left in 1977 after protesting against Wolf Biermann's expatriation .
Life
After Gorges left school at the age of 14, he first became a copper miner in the Mansfeld region . From 1958 to 1961 he trained as an actor at the University of Film and Television Potsdam- Babelsberg. He worked at the Theater der Freundschaft (today Theater an der Parkaue ) Berlin, at the Deutsches Theater Berlin, the Friedrichstadtpalast and was since 1969 member of the actor ensemble in GDR television and starred in numerous series and feature films of the GDR television and the DEFA with .
After moving to West Berlin , Gorges worked as a spokesman for the radio station RIAS . He worked at various theaters, including a. in Cologne, Frankfurt a. M. and the porcupines , the comedy and the Renaissance theater in Berlin. Gorges completed a number of tours, also to Switzerland and Austria, e.g. B. with Sappho under Wolfgang Liebeneiner , Amadeus under Gerhard Klingenberg and dangerous love affairs under the direction of Manfred Wekwerths . Gorges guested u. a. at the Karl May Festival . In between he worked on film and television productions, also as a voice actor . He lent his voice u. a. Bernard Giraudeau ( Bilitis ), Denis Lawson (as Wedge in Star Wars ) and David Lynch ( Twin Peaks ).
Sports
Gorges pursued his hobby as an amateur boxer for many years . After moving to the West, he began to play tennis and won the championships of the Berlin-Brandenburg Tennis Association several times with various teams as a senior . He completed 14 marathons , a. a. two in New York and played football enthusiastically, most recently in the Ü60 of SC Lankwitz .
Remarkable
In 1963 , Gorges knocked out several teeth from a guest in a pub dispute in East Berlin . The “thug” was lucky: his victim was by chance the American Army Captain Alfred Svenson , who was discovered as a spy and arrested by the People's Police . Instead of a possible punishment for bodily harm , Gorges received the Dr. Richard Sorge Medal , a high honor, from the Ministry of State Security . So it was only logical that from 1969 he played the role of MfS lieutenant Faber in the GDR spy series Rendezvous with Unknown . After the fall of the Wall , however, it became clear from the Stasi files concerning Gorges that he and his wife were extensively monitored in the GDR, especially after Gorges had received negative attention from the GDR authorities , for example through a critical letter to the State Council .
Manfred Gebhardt wrote about Ingolf Gorges in his book Die Nackte unterm Ladentisch that Gorges was one of those GDR celebrities whom women were most likely to have published a nude picture of. Manfred Gebhardt was editor-in-chief of Das Magazin from 1979 to 1991 .
