The Interstate 25 (abbreviated I-25 ) is part of the Interstate Highway System in the United States. The odd number shows that the route runs primarily in a north-south direction. It officially begins on Interstate 10 and US Highway 180 in Las Cruces , New Mexico and ends in Buffalo , Wyoming on Interstate 90 and US Highway 87 .

New Mexico

From Las Cruces, Interstate 25 runs together with US Highway 85 in a northerly direction and meets US Highway 70 in the north of the city . The I-25 passes parallel to the Rio Grande and the White Sands Missile Range in addition to Caballo Lake and places such as Truth or Consequences or Elephant Butte . South of Socorro the US Highway 380 branches off and between Socorro and Bernardo the US Highway 60 also uses the route of the I-25. In the west of Los Lunas it meets the New Mexico State Route 6 , the route of the former Route 66 .

Located in central Albuquerque , the largest city of New Mexico, the route of Interstate 25 and US Highways 85 of which is Interstate 40 on the Big I crossed. I-25 runs parallel to State Route 47 in the center of the city and passes the Albuquerque International Sunport or Isotopes Park in the east . She leaves the city in a northeastern direction. In the north of Bernalillo the US Highway 550 branches off in a westerly direction and the interstate leaves the Rio Grande.

From Santa Fe , the capital of New Mexico, the US Highways 84 and 285 also use the route. The US 285 leaves them again near Eldorado . The I-25 runs south along the Santa Fe National Forest before the US 84 leaves the route near Las Vegas . From Las Vegas, they returned to the north and meets in Springer on US Highways 56 and 412 . In the south of Raton , US Highway 64 uses the route for a few kilometers and from Exit 451 in the north of the city, the route is also used by US Highway 87 , so I-25 together with US 85 and US 87 on the Raton Pass reached the border with Colorado.

Interstate 25 also runs north in Colorado. Between Trinidad and Walsenburg , US Highway 160 uses the joint route of I-25 and US Highways 85 and 87. In the north of Pueblo the interstate meets US Highway 50 and south of Colorado Springs it passes Fort Carson in the west . In the center of the city, US Highway 24 uses the route of the interstate for about three kilometers. In the north of Castle Rock the US 85 leaves the route of the I-25.

The State Route 470 intersection takes Interstate 25 to the Denver metropolitan area . To the west of Cherry Creek State Park , Interstate 225 branches off to the east and US Highway 285 shortly afterwards . From Exit 207B, US 85 and from the center also US Highway 6 to the intersection with Interstate 70 use the shared route. At Mile High Stadium , it meets US Highways 40 and 287 . In the north of the city, I-25 is crossed by Interstate 76 and shortly thereafter by Interstate 270 and US Highway 36 . After the cross with the toll Northwest Parkway .

East of Loveland , Interstate 25 meets US Highway 34 and then passes Fort Collins-Loveland Municipal Airport . North of the village of Carr , it reaches the Wyoming border.

Wyoming

In the state of Wyoming, Interstate 25 meets Interstate 80 a few kilometers north of the border in the south of Cheyenne , the capital of Wyoming, and shortly afterwards US Highway 30 . In the north of the city it passes the Francis E. Warren Air Force Base in the west and the Cheyenne Regional Airport in the east , before the US 85 uses the route for about eight kilometers. From the town of Dwyer , US Highway 26 also uses the route of I-25 and US 87. After passing Glendo State Park to the east, US Highway 18 branches off in Orin in an easterly direction and US Highway 20 now begins also to use the route.

To the south of Douglas , Interstate 25 crosses the North Platte River and runs parallel to the river in a westerly direction. East of Glenrock , US Highways 20, 26 and 87 leave the route, but continue to run parallel to I-25 as far as Casper . In the north of Casper, the interstate leaves the North Platte River valley together with the US 87 in a northerly direction. In Buffalo , the route meets US Highway 16 before ending at Interstate 90. The US 87 continues northwards together with the I-90.
