Jamie Wright (born May 13, 1976 in Kitchener , Ontario ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player who has played for the Dallas Stars , Calgary Flames and Philadelphia Flyers in the National Hockey League during his playing career .

Career

Wright began his professional ice hockey career in 1993 in the Canadian Junior League Ontario Hockey League with the Guelph Storm . The winger showed his talent in his first season and scored 32 points in 65 games . prompting some NHL - scouts were aware of him. During the NHL Entry Draft in 1994 , the left shooter was selected in the fourth round in a total of 98th place by the Dallas Stars , to whom he moved to the 1996/97 season. However, Wright was mainly used by the stars in the farm team , the Michigan K-Wings from the International Hockey League , and was only in the squad of the stars for the first time next year, for which he was able to achieve 21 games and six scorer points this season.

After a brief interlude with the Utah Grizzlies , the then 25-year-old joined the Calgary Flames . The 1.83 m tall attacker could not prevail in Calgary either and moved to the Philadelphia Flyers at the end of the 2002/03 season . It was followed by two more years in the American Hockey League before Jamie Wright could decide in the summer of 2005 to move to Europe. First, the Canadian signed a contract in the Finnish SM-liiga with Rauman Lukko , which was however dissolved during the season, whereupon the left-shooter moved to the Swiss National League A to HC Servette Genève . There Wright belonged to the regular squad and was one of the most important scorers in the team. In total, the striker completed 49 games for HC Servette Genève, in which he scored 48 points scorer.

For the 2007/08 season Wright received a one-year contract with DEG Metro Stars from Düsseldorf , which was not extended at the end of the season. The attacker then joined league rivals Frankfurt Lions . Because of an injury Wright sustained during the 2008-09 season , he was only able to play 32 games for the Lions. He scored four goals and provided seven assists. In addition, he was often used as a defense lawyer, as the Hessians had great personnel concerns. During the 2009/10 season he played ten games for HC Sierre from the National League B , but then returned to Frankfurt. In May 2010 Wright was signed by EHC Basel , with whom he reached the playoffs in his first season and failed in the quarterfinals with a sweep at EHC Olten . After leaving the playoffs, Wright decided to extend his contract with EHC Basel for two years. After the 2012/13 season he ended his professional career and paused the following two years with ice hockey at club level. In the 2015/16 season, the Canadian was on the ice in six games for the Brantford Blast in the ACH.

International

With the Canadian national team Wright took part at junior level in the Junior World Championship in 1996 , where he won the gold medal with Team Canada . For the senior selection he was on the ice at the 2002 World Cup .
