Jean-François Lamour (born February 2, 1956 in Paris ) is a former French fencer and former sports minister. He won the gold medal in saber singles at the Olympic Games in 1984 and 1988 .

Lamour began in 1963 in Paris with fencing master Augustin Parent with the sport. At the 1980 Olympic Games , Lamour was eliminated in the second round. He was the only French fencer who went without a medal in 1980. At the 1984 Olympic Games, Lamour won the saber singles final against the Italian Mario Marin . In the team competition, Lamour also reached the final with the French team, but lost to the Italian team around Marin.

In 1986 Lamour won bronze in singles at the World Championships in Sofia. At the World Fencing Championships in 1987 Lamour won the title in singles and bronze with the team. In 1988 in Seoul Lamour won the individual Olympic competition against Janusz Olech from Poland . The French team reached the final for bronze and lost to the Italians. In the same year he was voted France's Sportsman of the Year (“ Champion des champions ”) by the sports newspaper L'Équipe .
