Jerzy Wojnar (born October 7, 1937 in Lwów , today Lwiw, † February 2, 2005 in Warsaw ) was a Polish luge athlete .

Jerzy Wojnar was active for Olsza Kraków . He started for the first time in 1958 in his native Krynica-Zdrój at the Luge World Championships and immediately won the title of world champion ahead of his compatriot Ryszard Pędrak and the Austrian Reinhold Frosch . A year later , the Pole was eighth in Villard-de-Lans , and sixth in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in 1960 . He also launched in Garmisch with primarily as a bobsledder known Włodzimierz Źróbik in luge doubles and finished fifth. In 1961 Wojnar won the title ahead of Hans Plenk and Reinhold Senn . This made him the first toboggan runner to become world champion for the second time. In doubles he came in 19th place with Źróbik. He won another medal in Krynica-Zdrój in 1962 when he won the silver medal behind Thomas Köhler and ahead of Jochen Asche . The 1963 Luge World Championships in Imst went far worse, where Wojnar was only 68th out of 75 and 83rd registered starters. At the Olympic Winter Games in Innsbruck in 1964 , when luge was on the program for the first time, Wojnar came 28th. It was not until 1967 that the Pole returned to a major international event. In Hammarstrand he finished fifth and was also fifth at the European Championships in Königssee . In Grenoble followed in 1968 , the second part in Winter Olympics , where he finished eighth. At his last World Championships in 1969 in Koenigssee, he was eliminated like all other Polish starters.
