Roman Alexandrovich Repilow ( Russian Роман Александрович Репилов ; English novel Repilov * 5. March 1996 in Dmitrov ) is a Russian luger .

Career

Repilow, who starts in a single-seater, made his first international appearance in the 2012/13 season. At the Junior World Championships 2013 in Park City he finished 17th and at the Junior European Championships 2013 in Oberhof he finished 12th. In the 2013/14 season, with third place at Königssee and second place in Altenberg, he achieved his first podium finishes in the Junior World Cup and thus achieved fifth place in the overall standings. At the 2014 Junior World Championships in Igls , he came in tenth place. At the start of the 2014/15 season, he finished third and second at the Junior World Cup in Whistler . In Park City he took his first victories in the Junior World Cup in singles and in the relay. In January 2015 he won the gold medal in singles at the Junior World Championships in Lillehammer . In the same month he won the silver medal in the singles and the gold medal in the team sprint at the Junior European Championships in Oberhof. At the Junior World Cup in Oberhof he came second and reached fourth place in the overall ranking of the Junior World Cup. At the beginning of the 2015/16 season, he started the Luge World Cup in Igls for the first time . He was fifth in the single-seater. In the further course of the season he was in the top ten four times in a single seater. He achieved his first podium positions with second place in the sprint race in Calgary and second place in the single-seater and in Altenberg . The World Cup in Altenberg was also classified as a European championship and thus won the silver medal and also the bronze medal with the relay. At the 2016 Luge World Championships at Königssee , he achieved 13th place in the single-seater and in the sprint. In February 2016 he won the gold medal in the single seater at the Junior World Championships in Winterberg . He also finished fourth there with the season. He finished the season in ninth place in the overall World Cup. After finishing second in the single-seater in Winterberg at the beginning of the 2016/17 season, he won his first World Cup victory in the single-seater in Park City . He also took second place in the sprint there. In January 2017, he finished fifth in the single seater at the European Luge Championships at Königssee. At the following World Cup in Sigulda , he won the sprint and also took second place in the single-seater. At the Luge World Championships 2017 in Igls, he won the bronze medal with the relay and the silver medal in the single-seater and single-seater sprint. Also at the World Cup in Oberhof he came back on the podium with second places in the single seater and with the relay. At the end of February 2017, he took third place at the last World Cup of the season in Altenberg and won the third World Cup in a single-seater. In the end, he won the overall World Cup.
