The 48th European Luge Championships were held from 4th to 6th January 2017 as part of the 5th World Cup race of the 2016/17 season on the artificial ice rink at Königssee in Germany .

2016 for the European Championships eligible tobogganists. The race took place in only one run, as the second run was canceled due to increasing snowfall. For Geisenberger it was the third individual European title. The European champion from 2015 Dajana Eitberger came in 11th.

21st doubles at the start. The race took place in heavy snow, so that after every third trip a sweeping squad cleared the track. There was a German triple success in which the young duo Geueke / Gamm won their first European Championship medal.
