Jessica Monika Lindell-Vikarby (born February 7, 1984 in Huddinge ) is a former Swedish ski racer . She specialized in the downhill , super-G and giant slalom disciplines.
biography
In January 2000, Lindell-Vikarby took part in FIS races for the first time , and from December 2000 they played in the European Cup . It had its premiere in the World Cup on October 26, 2002 , on that day it finished seventh in the giant slalom in Sölden . She underlined her versatility in the 2002/03 season with further good placements among the top ten.
At the World Ski Championships in 2003 in St. Moritz , Lindell-Vikarby was eighth in the combination (she even came second in the combined descent). In addition, she finished 13th and 17th in Super-G and giant slalom at this World Cup. At the 2003 Junior World Championships in Serre Chevalier, she won the gold medal in giant slalom; in the Super-G and in the slalom , she finished fifth and seventh.
In October 2003, Lindell-Vikarby fell severely during downhill training in Saas-Fee and suffered a torn cruciate ligament and collateral ligament in his left knee. She then missed the entire 2003/04 World Cup season. The comeback in the 2004/05 season was difficult and the Swede was unable to build on the good results before the injury for a long time. She achieved good results at the World Ski Championships in Santa Caterina in 2005 : She finished sixth in the downhill and eleventh in the combination.
In winter 2005/06 the best season position was a seventh place in the downhill from Bad Kleinkirchheim . At the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin , Lindell-Vikarby took eighth place in the combination. On December 2, 2007 she reached a podium for the first time in a World Cup race when she was third in the Super-G in Lake Louise . In total, the Swede was in the top ten four times during the season. On January 26th, 2009, she won her first World Cup race with the Super-G in Cortina d'Ampezzo . At the 2009 World Championships in Val-d'Isère , she finished twelfth in the Super-G. The following day, February 4th, she had a bad fall in downhill training and suffered a cruciate ligament tear and an internal ligament stretch in her right knee, which is why she had to end the season early.
In the 2009/10 and 2010/11 seasons Lindell-Vikarby drove in one World Cup race each among the top ten. At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver , her best result was 22nd place in the super combined. At the 2011 World Championships in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , she reached 7th place in the giant slalom and 14th place in the Super-G. In the 2011/12 season she got eight top 10 placings, in the 2012/13 season five more. The best placement at the 2013 World Championships in Schladming was 13th place in the giant slalom. On December 1, 2013, she surprisingly won the Beaver Creek World Cup giant slalom . At the end of the 2013/14 season she took second place in the giant slalom discipline (the decision was made in the last race in Lenzerheide).
Lindell-Vikarby could not quite build on these achievements in the following World Cup season 2014/15. Her best result in a World Cup giant slalom was a 7th place, otherwise rankings around 20th place predominated. A significant exception was the giant slalom at the 2015 World Championships in Vail / Beaver Creek , where, contrary to the course of the season, she won the bronze medal.
Jessica Lindell-Vikarby announced the end of her career in July 2015.
