Jonas Reckermann (born May 26, 1979 in Rheine ) is a former German beach volleyball player . With four European championship titles (2002, 2004, 2011 and 2012), six tournament victories on the FIVB World Tour and five titles in German championships (2001, 2005, 2009, 2010 and 2011), he is one of the most successful German beach volleyball players. His greatest successes were winning the 2009 World Cup and the gold medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London with his partner Julius Brink .

Reckermann learned to play volleyball - initially in the hall - at TV Jahn Rheine . From 1997 to 2000 he played at USC Münster and then at SV Bayer Wuppertal . In 2001 he was U-21 Beach European Champion with David Klemperer . From 2001 to 2005 Reckermann played very successfully with Markus Dieckmann on the FIVB World Tour, among others . In 2004 they won in Rio de Janeiro and at the final of the tour in Berlin. Dieckmann / Reckermann's greatest successes were titles at the European Championships in Switzerland in 2002 and in Germany in 2004 (Timmendorfer Strand). At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens they were eliminated in the tiebreaker in the round of 16 against the Americans Holdren / Metzger .

In 2007 and 2008 Reckermann played together with the defense specialist Mischa Urbatzka . Reckermann / Urbatzka formed one of three national teams for men alongside Julius Brink / Christoph Dieckmann . Jürgen Wagner was the coach of both teams. David Klemperer / Eric Koreng formed the third national team.

From 2009 Reckermann played with Julius Brink and became world champion with him in Stavanger in his first season together . The Open Tournament in Rome, the Masters in Berlin and the Grand Slams in Gstaad and Moscow were also won, so that Brink / Reckermann became FIVB Tour Champion and “Team of the year 2009”. Brink / Reckermann had established themselves among the world's best and almost exclusively achieved top ten placements on the World Tour. There were also three German championship titles in a row, the bronze medal at the 2011 World Cup in Rome and the renewed win of the European Championship when Brink / Reckermann won in a purely German final against Erdmann / Matysik in Kristiansand. In 2012 Brink / Reckermann successfully defended their title at the European Beach Volleyball Championships in Scheveningen (Netherlands) . At the 2012 Olympic Games in London , Reckermann and Julius Brink won the gold medal in the final against the reigning world champions Emanuel Rego and Alison Cerutti on August 9, 2012 . He and Julius Brink are the first Europeans to win a gold medal in beach volleyball at the Olympic Games.

Five months after winning the Olympic gold medal, Reckermann ended his career in January 2013 for health reasons.

Reckermann studied teaching (geography, sport, mathematics) at the University of Cologne and the German Sport University Cologne from 2001 to 2013 . He is currently a member of the college of the District Administrator-Lucas-Gymnasium .

On November 13th, 2011 Jonas Reckermann won in the TV program TV total high diving in the category "double" together with Fabian Hambüchen in synchronized jumping with a double somersault from the five-meter platform. On October 9, 2012, Reckermann took first place in an issue of TV total PokerStars.de Nacht . In the heads up he prevailed against Stefan Raab . Other participants in this edition were Jeanette Biedermann , Elton and Boris Lauterbach . In 2014 he took part in the 12th TV Total Wok World Cup.
