Joshua Hall

Joshua Hall (born October 22, 1768 in Lewes , Delaware Colony , † December 25, 1862 ) was an American politician and 1830 Governor of Maine .

Joshua Hall attended local schools in his home in Delaware. After school he worked as a preacher in the Methodist Church. From 1814 to 1819 he was a member of the state parliament of Massachusetts on several occasions .

After the creation of the new US state Maine, he was politically active there. In 1830 he was an MP and President in the Maine House of Representatives . After incumbent Governor Enoch Lincoln passed away in office, Senate President Nathan Cutler constitutionally assumed the office of governor. His tenure as President of the Senate expired in January 1830. The remaining term of the governor until February 9, 1830 had to be terminated by Joshua Hall. After the end of his brief governorship, Hall retired from politics and returned to work as a preacher. He died on December 25, 1862.
