Kai Schwertfeger (born September 8, 1988 in Düsseldorf ) is a German football player who is used in the defense . He is under contract with SSVg Velbert .
career
Schwertfeger started playing football at Mettmanner SC. In 1997 he moved to Fortuna Düsseldorf , where he subsequently went through the youth departments. In 2007 he won the national cup with the selection of the FVN . On May 10, 2008, he played his first game for the first senior Fortuna team in a 3-0 home win in Regionalliga Nord against the second team of VfL Wolfsburg , qualifying for the newly created third division . He was substituted in for Robert Palikuća in the 67th minute when the final score was already established . His next game followed almost a year later, making his third division debut. Again he came from the bench, this time in the 75th minute for Clément Halet , in the 1-0 away win against FC Bayern Munich II . Two game days later he was in the starting line-up for the first time, eventually played through the last seven games of the 2008/09 season and promoted his team to the 2nd Bundesliga . There he was initially not taken into account and played four times for the reserve, which was now in the Regionalliga West .
His first second division appearance was planned for the 11th matchday in 2009/10 , as a replacement for the injured left full-backs Fabian Hergesell and Johannes van den Bergh . However, he also injured himself warming up and was unable to play the game. His debut then followed ten game days later, on February 7, 2010, in a 2-0 derby home win against MSV Duisburg . He represented Christian Weber on the right defensive side. In the first half of the 2010/11 season Kai Schwertfeger developed into a regular player and extended his contract with Fortuna until 2013. However, this was terminated early in June 2012.
A day later, Alemannia Aachen, relegated to the second division, announced the commitment of Schwertfeger. After financial difficulties in Aachen and an application for bankruptcy, Schwertfeger, who had been elected captain of Aachen shortly before his move, switched to league competitor Karlsruher SC with effect from January 24, 2013 . In the 2-1 win against Kickers Offenbach on matchday 28, Schwertfeger made his debut for KSC. After a year and a half, he switched to Hansa Rostock . In summer 2016, Schwertfeger joined the Wuppertaler SV in the Regionalliga West .
During the winter break, the upper division KFC Uerdingen announced the immediate commitment of Schwertfeger. With the KFC he celebrated the championship of the Oberliga Niederrhein 2016/17 and rose to the regional league. In the following season 2017/18 he became champion of the Regionalliga West with the KFC, the KFC prevailed in the relegation against SV Waldhof Mannheim and rose to the 3rd division. Without another league appearance, Schwertfeger dissolved his contract with the Krefeld team during the winter break of the 2018/19 season .
He then found a new employer in the newly promoted regional league SV Straelen . After the direct relegation to the league, Schwertfeger moved to SSVg Velbert shortly before the start of the 2019/20 season .
