Hamlet on the Kaunerberg

Kaunerberg is a municipality with 435 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in the district of Landeck in the state of Tyrol ( Austria ). The municipality is part of the Landeck judicial district .

geography

The community lies above the entrance to the Kaunertal on numerous scattered hamlets and farms between 1300 m and 1600 m altitude. From here a road leads over the Pillerhöhe into the Pitztal . The area is a traditionally small-scale cultivated landscape. Waale , extensive irrigation systems for fruit tree crops , are typical . The southern slopes of the Kaunerberg are among the areas with the lowest amounts of precipitation in Tyrol. Unmanaged, somewhat rocky slopes are home to dry grasslands , as in the nearby river .

history

Kaunerberg was originally part of the judicial district of Ried in Tirol and after its dissolution in 1978 it became part of the judicial district of Landeck.
