history

The first early reformatory activities took place in the Duchy of Jülich , which largely coincides with today's church district, as early as 1520. An important historical event was the arrival of Dutch religious refugees in the second half of the 16th century . In 1573 the Protestant parish of Lürken was founded.

On July 23, 1837, the synods of the church districts of Düren and Unterrur decided at a conference in Jülich to merge the two church districts and name them Jülich. Since then there has been an unified creed in the Jülich church district . Following this decision, the Rhenish Provincial Synod in 1838 transformed the previous church districts of Aachen , Düren and Unterrur into the church districts of Aachen and Jülich.

In July 1953, the district synod passed the first statute on the establishment of a district church rent office and in October 2000 its revision.

The community of Weisweiler, consisting of Dürwiß , Fronhoven , Hamich , Heistern , Neu-Lohn , Weisweiler, Wenau and Schönthal , became independent from Eschweiler on January 1, 1961, as the number of community members had risen sharply between 1945 and 1960.

management
