Kirk Furey (born January 28, 1976 in Antigonish , Nova Scotia ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who played for the EC KAC in the Austrian ice hockey league for many years . He now works as a trainer in the club's youth department.

Career

It was not until he was 25 that Kirk Furey got his first professional contract from Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies of the East Coast Hockey League . Previously, he spent three years with the Owen Sound Platers in the Ontario Hockey League , three more on the Acadia University team . In the second season at Atlantic City, he celebrated his greatest sporting success so far when his team won the Kelly Cup . He was also able to convince, which is why the Philadelphia Phantoms signed him , for which he scored nine goals in 94 AHL games. In the 2004/05 season he made his DEL debut for the Kassel Huskies , which ended as a relegated athlete. Furey was the team's best defender. Between 2005 and 2007 he played for the Iserlohn Roosters , where he was the top defender on points after his father's stroke, despite personal problems. After two years at the Seilersee, he announced his move to the Austrian record champions EC KAC . In the 2008/09 season he won the Austrian championship with his team . In the 2012/13 season he won the Austrian championship again with the KAC.

In April 2015 he retired from his career and became Doug Mason's assistant coach . For the 2016/17 season he was a coach in the junior division of the EC KAC .
